No matter what life stage you’re in or struggles you’re going through, if where you are isn’t where you want to be, don’t stay there. Break free! Does digging deep into the word of God excite you? This is a topical study on Spiritual Warfare, the Biblical basis for Deliverance, and what the Bible says about the Authority of the Believer. We will be pressing into the Word and into these topics to learn what God has to say about them, as well as the how, when, and why it still applies for believers today. Come learn with all of us about the unseen battle, how Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy, and the calling on all believers to minister freedom to the captives and those in bondage. NOTE: This LifeGroup meets in a home in White Plains, NY.
MidWeek in Mount Vernon presents The Bait of Satan. This LifeGroup will expose Satan’s deceptive snares and the offense used to get believers out of the will of God. The issue of offense – the very core of The Bait of Satan – is often the most difficult obstacle an individual must face and overcome. Jesus said, “It is impossible that no offenses should come” (Luke 17:1 NKJV). Your choice is not in whether or not you get offended, but in how you choose to respond. This message will empower you to stay free from offense, enabling you to have an unhindered relationship with God and others. NOTE: This LifeGroup meets on the Mount Vernon Campus and will be led by various guest facilitators.
James had a unique earthly relationship with Jesus, but his letter clarifies what the Christian life should look like for us all. The Book of James is filled with practical wisdom for Christians, calling us to live out genuine faith through good works, but it is also rooted in rich theology. Perhaps more than any other book in the New Testament, James emphasizes the application of Christian belief. This LifeGroup examines the core message of James: the relationship between faith and works. In our own ability, we cannot stand in the face of adversity. Without faith, we could never find the strength to trust God. We would never be able to see above the trials we meet and to keep our eyes focused on the King while counting our trials as joy. This is the essence of James. We don’t work to be saved; we work because we are saved. Faith apart from works can never be sustained. NOTE: This is a two-part journey that continues into the Fall semester. This LifeGroup is for men only.
What do you do when God’s timing seems questionable, His lack of intervention hurtful and His promises doubtful? Life often looks so very different than we hoped or expected. Some events may simply catch us off guard for a moment, but others shatter us completely. We feel disappointed and disillusioned and we quietly start to wonder about the reality of God’s goodness. However, our disappointments can be the divine appointments our souls need to radically encounter God. In this group study, we will take a journey of faith as we 1) learn to stop being pulled into the anxiety of disappointment by discovering how to better process unmet expectations and other painful situations, 2) train ourselves to recognize the three strategies of the enemy, so we can stand strong and persevere through unsettling relationships and uncertain outcomes, 3) discover the secret of being steadfast and not panicking when God actually does give us more than we can handle and 4) shift our suspicion that God is cruel or unfair to the biblical assurance that God is protecting and preparing us. Ladies, let’s grow in our intimacy with the lover of our souls; Jesus! NOTE: This LifeGroup is for women only.

The key to the abundant life Jesus promised lies in embracing His inside-out way of life. During this study, we will unpack the many counter-intuitive truths, including: brokenness is the way to wholeness, mourning is the path to blessing, and emptiness is required in order to know true fullness. Ultimately, you will discover how Jesus transforms you as you begin to live out these paradoxical principles. Only when you come to the end of yourself can you begin to experience the full, blessed, and whole life Jesus offers. NOTE: Childcare provided.

Intercessory prayer is prayer for others. An intercessor is one who takes the place of another or pleads another’s case. Jesus Christ is our model for intercessory prayer. In John 17, He stood before God and interceded for us. He still intercedes for us today and He invites us to enter into that partnership for others. This LifeGroup is devoted to learning about prayer from God’s Word and spending time praying and interceding together.
The book of Deuteronomy contains the final words of Moses to the people of Israel as they awaited entrance to the Promised Land. Remembering God’s great deliverance from Egypt, Moses called Israel to forsake their past faithlessness and love the Lord with all that they are. NOTE: This is a two-part journey that begins in the Spring semester and resumes in the Fall semester.
